How does Botox work?
Botox/Dysport is a prescription medication. When it is injected in small doses into the facial muscles it relaxes the muscle and improves the look of fine lines and wrinkles.
How much does Botox cost?
Botox is priced per unit. Here at Akin Aesthetics & Wellness, Botox is $12 per unit and can go down to as low as $9 with our Platinum membership.
How many units do I need?
To determine how much Botox or Dysport you will need, you'll start with a consultation where one of our doctors will go over your facial anatomy and your goals. During this time they will determine how much would be best.
What areas can I get Botox?
Botox can be used in many different areas including:
forehead lines
frown lines
eyebrow lift
crows feet
bunny lines
smile lift
dimpled chin
lip flip
masseter (TMJ)
neck
palms (for sweating)
underarms (for sweating)
Does it hurt?
We would compare having Botox to someone giving you a sharp pinch – it’s not pleasant, but the pain is gone in seconds. It’s like a small pin-prick! It’s definitely less painful than fillers or microblading.
How long does it take to see results?
Dysport usually kicks in within 4-7 days post-treatment and Botox's results can be seen around 14 days post-treatment. During this time you will see your lines and wrinkles soften.
Pre and Post Care instructions
Before your Botox appointment you will want to avoid alcoholic beverages, caffeine, and any blood thinning medication 24 hours prior to your treatment. This will help minimize the risk of bruising. Since Botox takes 10-14 days to fully set in, you will want to schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to any special events/vacations. You are not a candidate for Botox if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
After your Botox appointment you will need to avoid laying down for 4 hours after your injections. You are able to lie in a reclined position, just avoid laying flat. You will want to avoid any aerobic exercise for 24 hours and don't massage or manipulate the treated area for 24 hours. Tylenol is recommended to relieve any post injection headaches. If you need more units added, we recommend coming in for a 2 week follow up after your initial treatment.
How long does Botox last?
Botox/Dysport on average last between 3-4 months. We recommend coming in regularly for Botox treatments to maintain best results.
